Offshore Banking and Investing

There are many myths and concerns about offshore banking and investing. Some people believe that you need millions and millions of dollars. Some people believe that is illegal. Some people think that it is incredibly dodgy. This couldn't be further from the truth.

You don't need to be a millionaire to invest offshore. In some cases you can start investing offshore for as little as $150 a month. Also remember that investing offshore doesn't just mean those tiny islands in the Caribbean or the English Channel, although those islands do play a big part in the offshore industry actually offshore investing means investing outside your home country.

Investing offshore also has the image of tax evasion. This is not correct either. A lot of countries including New Zealand require you to declare your worldwide income. Of course if you are a New Zealand tax resident and you don't declare your offshore income then you are in theory evading your tax obligations. Don't be scared, after researching New Zealand tax laws in terms of offshore income it seems that the laws are friendly to New Zealand tax residents investing offshore.

Don't be put off by investing offshore. Don't be put off by the dodgy image some movies might present. Get some advice from a qualified adviser. Get some advice from someone you trust. You may be pleasantly surprised.
